Why Does Allah Put People in Hellfire Even Though He Loves Them More Than a Mother

Why Does Allah Put People in Hellfire Even Though He Loves Them More Than a Mother?

Introduction:

It may seem puzzling why Allah would place people in Hellfire when His love for them exceeds even a mother’s love. However, Islam provides insights that help us understand the divine wisdom behind this decision. In this blog, we will explore this topic in simple terms, supported by relevant Quranic verses and hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him).

1. Allah’s Unparalleled Love:

Allah’s love surpasses any comparison. His mercy and compassion are boundless, extending far beyond the love of a mother. The Quran states:

“And My Mercy encompasses all things.”
(Quran 7:156)

This verse emphasizes that Allah’s mercy encompasses everything in existence.

2. Justice and Accountability:

Allah is the epitome of justice and fairness in His judgment. He holds individuals accountable for their choices and actions, considering their intentions, deeds, and response to guidance. The Quran says:

“That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.”(Quran 36:65)

This verse highlights that each person will be held responsible for their own actions, as their own limbs bear witness to their deeds.

3. Freedom of Choice and Responsibility:

Islam teaches that human beings possess free will, granting them the ability to make choices and decisions. Allah allows us to choose between right and wrong, and the consequences of these choices are a result of our actions. The Quran affirms:

“Whoever does righteousness, it is for his [own] soul; and whoever does evil, it is against it.” (Quran 41:46)

This verse underscores personal responsibility, as individuals are accountable for their own actions and the impact they have on their own souls.

4. Rejection of Guidance and Persistence in Disobedience:

Hellfire is a consequence for those who consciously reject Allah’s guidance and persist in disobedience and wrongdoing. Allah, out of His justice, grants individuals free will, but their choices have consequences. The Quran states:

“But whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” (Quran 20:124)

This verse highlights that those who turn away from Allah’s guidance will experience a life devoid of contentment and will face consequences on the Day of Resurrection.

5. Repentance and Divine Mercy:

While the consequences of one’s actions are significant, Islam emphasizes the importance of repentance and seeking Allah’s forgiveness. Allah is merciful and forgives those who sincerely repent and turn back to Him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than a person who has his camel in a waterless desert and it suddenly appears.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

This hadith illustrates the immense value and acceptance of repentance in the sight of Allah.

Conclusion:

The placement of individuals in Hellfire, despite Allah’s profound love for them, is a consequence of their choices, rejection of guidance, and persistence in wrongdoing. Allah’s justice ensures that individuals are held accountable for their actions, while His mercy provides opportunities for repentance and forgiveness. It is crucial to understand that Allah’s love is all-encompassing, but it is the responsibility of each individual to align their actions with His guidance. By comprehending divine justice and seeking Allah’s forgiveness, we can strive to attain His eternal love and mercy.
